Not too long ago, a friend of mine approached me and asked me a very important question. “What should I choose? I like the idea of a workbench, but I also need a sawhorse.” That’s when I said, “why not choose both?” He then stated that he has a budget and wouldn’t be able to afford both a workbench and a sawhorse, and that’s when I introduced him to the WORX Pegasus …

Worx Pegasus Review Summary
This is a reasonably priced product that is made of high quality materials. Once you start to use the Pegasus, whether you use it as a sawhorse or a workbench, you’re going to wonder how you ever managed to accomplish anything without it before.
Sure, looking at a picture of it online, you may feel as if you’re looking at an amped up picnic table that has been built for children, but don’t let that picture fool you. When you have this product in front of you, you will see that it is very versatile, and extremely sturdy.
This is a folding, portable workbench that can also transform into a sawhorse. If you’re working in tight spaces, it can also be transformed into a half table, which is great. It comes with a lower storage shelf so that you can keep your accessories within arm’s reach, and clamps.
This product comes to us from WORX. Take it from me, WORX is a brand that you can trust. In fact, professionals are known for using WORX product at job sites, because they know that their products aren’t going to let them down. There’s a reason WORX has so many fans nesting behind the Pegasus – they like it so much that they willingly went out and purchased a second one.
Mind you, I understand those that need both, because when you work with wood, you need a flat, straight surface that is capable of supporting, as well as a pair of sawhorses to go along with it in order to complete the set-up. I’m going to be honest with you, the WORX Pegasus is a great choice, hands down, it is one of the best choices currently on the market, but if you plan on using it as a sawhorse, you will need to think about purchasing 2 of them, so it is important that you factor that into budgeting.
The sawhorse does stand at 32 inches, so if you choose, you could use the WORX with another sawhorse that is the same height, so don’t get hung up too much on this (you can find a cheap sawhorse to go along with this one if needed).
Super Versatile
This is labeled a “table,” but that is only the start. For using in tight spots, you can easily transform it into a smaller table. It can even be transformed into a sawhorse and when you lock it to other WORX tables (or sawhorses), you can make it even bigger.
You can zip tie a power strip under it so that you can plug in your power tools, and you can use the lower level shelf for storing your tools and accessories that you will be needing. You can leave screws or other small accessories in the tiny crevices as well. Come to think of it, if you wanted, you could even use it as a dinner table. Since it’s potable, you can do all of these things and then some, anywhere you choose.
Super Sturdy
The picture makes the bench look like one of those flimsy plastic tables you’d see kids sitting at, but believe it or not, this Pegasus is solid as it’s made from heavy-duty plastic and reinforced with aluminum.
People use the table to put miter saws, sheets of plywood, doors, circular saws, and all kinds of stuff on this table, and it doesn’t even give way or wobble.
Super Functional
Oh yes, this table is super functional, and that’s what I would expect from WORX. It comes with four clamp dogs and two integrated clamps and they’re not cheam and flimsy feeling either – they are actually reliable features. When not in use, you can swing the clamps out of the way. Actually, you can remove the clamps entirely if you feel like you should put them elsewhere.
How Much Can it Hold?
As you saw in the beginning of this review, under the “main features” section, I told you that the sawhorse is capable of holding up to 1000 pounds. Once you’re done using it as a sawhorse, transforming it into a workbench is simple. All you need to do is pull out the wings and you’ll have a nice smooth table surface in front of you.
The table surface is great for lumber or power tools and can support up to 300 pounds. Mind you, if you’re into commercial work, the amount of pounds the workbench can support may not be enough for you, but it is perfect for DIY enthusiasts and home woodworkers.
The Durability and Build Quality
One of the reasons I recommend the WORX Pegasus, besides the fact that it serves the purpose of being both a sawhorse and a workbench, is the fact that the durability and build quality is top notch – I wouldn’t expect to see something this good at this affordable price.
It is made of ABS plastic, which believe it or not, is rugged, and the stand has been strengthened with aluminum.
The Weight of the Pegasus
If you plan on moving the WORX Pegasus around, then you’re not going to have to struggle too much with that. The Pegasus only comes in at 28 pounds, which surprises me. Thanks to the foldable design of the Pegasus combined with the weight, carrying around your workbench will be easier than it’s ever been.
Easy to Store
At the end of the day, if you’re the type that likes to put your tools up, you’re not going to have any problems storing the WORX Pegasus – even those with limited spaces should be able to store the Pegasus once it is folded up.
Quick Clamps and 4 Pegs
The Pegasus comes with 2 clamps and 4 pegs, so when you take it out of the box, you can get started right away. If you were to use third party clamps with the Pegasus, it might be a struggle, so I’d stick with the WORX accessories for this particular item.
What’s interesting about the clamps is that you can slot them into the aluminum tracks on the table, which will turn the workbench into a vise.
The pegs can be slotted into 8 different positions. Instead of using the pegs as a replacement to the clamps, I recommend using them in tandem. The pegs are capable of holding the normal ¾-inch plywood, which will make it easy to sand the wood. In the workbench, there are a total of 16 holes, so the pegs will be capable of holding down a variety of materials in different shapes and sizes.
If you choose to use the quick release clamps alone, that is perfectly fine – these clamps are customizable. When you’re using the circular saw, using the clamps is a great way to make sure the materials stays put.
Speaking in using a circular saw, if you’re using a corded one (or any power tool that is corded), you can put a power strip underneath the Pegasus.
Latch Numerous Tables Together
There may come a time where you need a bigger work space and that is something that WORX obviously understood. Another interesting aspect about the Pegasus is the fact that it has been designed so that the user can latch numerous work tables to it. By doing this, you will obviously have more working space to use.
Table Cavities
If you’re like me and you want to stay organized while you’re working on your projects, you’re going to like the table cavities on the Pegasus. You can store your accessories and fixings in the table cavities so that they will be within your reach when you’re ready to use them – this is much better than storing them across the room where you could easily misplace them.
Like No Other Sawhorse
When you have the Pegasus in sawhorse form, you’ll see that it’s nothing like the traditional sawhorses. This one right here actually stands up straight when it’s folded – this is because of the 6” base. Personally, I have found that this is a super handy feature, especially if you’re working in the open because you won’t have to lay it flat on the ground or prop it up against something.
On each side, you’ll find notches – that is so that it can hold 2 x 4’s easily. When you have 2 x 4’s in these notches, they can elevate other work materials so that you can handle cross-cuts without having to worry about cutting into the Pegasus.
The “wings” are locked into place for a stable work top and require both levers to be depressed before folding back into the storage mode. When expanding the wings that are equipped with air struts so, they unfold at a measured gait with a nice “whooshing” sound. My only concern is that after prolonged use, the air could expire, and I wonder what will happen after that.
Pros of the Worx Pegasus
Double Duty – With the WORX Pegasus, you will have the both of best worlds. Not only will you have access to a workbench, but you will also have access to a sawhorse. I personally love this option, because as a woodworker, I find myself needing a sawhorse one moment, then a workbench the next moment.
Easy to Store – Once you have it folded up, you can easily put it away in a corner.
Extend Its Functionality – During those times when you feel you need a bigger work space, you can extend its functionality by hooking up another surface to the table. If you purchase two of these units, you could easily connect them together.
Light in Weight – In total, it only weighs 28 pounds and has a small footprint that comes in at 31 x 25 x 32 inches. For this reason, it is highly portable and great for those that move been work sites.
Great for Large Work Pieces – When you have the WORX Pegasus in sawhorse form, it can support up to 1,000 pounds, which is perfect. When you are using it as a work table, it is capable of supporting up to 300 pounds, which is a decent amount of weight on a workbench.
Clamps and Pegs – The clamps and pegs that comes with the product are great to use in order to secure a wide array of materials.
Leg-Lock – The integrated leg-lock feature is there for safety purposes. When you’re using the table, you don’t have to worry about any stability issues.
Durable ABS Plastic – WORX is the type of company that obviously doesn’t believe in using low quality material. With this particular workbench, they use top of the line ABS plastic and the stand has been reinforced with aluminum. Long story short, the Pegasus has been built to last, which is exactly how it should be.
3-Year Warranty – This product has a 3-year limited warranty nesting behind it. This shows us that WORX really is confident with their product.
Cons of the Worx Pegasus
Mind you, where there are pros, regardless of how good the product is, if you do some digging, you are going to find something wrong. In this case, I didn’t find anything major wrong with the workbench, but I did find some cons that are worth mentioning.
Limits – When it comes to using clamps, you are slightly limited due to the underside of the table. However, there’s no need to worry about this, because the table does come with some clamps and pegs that you can use in order to secure the material you’re working with.
2 Units Needed – If you plan on using the Pegasus as a sawhorse, then you’re either going to need to purchase 2 of these units or find a lower-priced sawhorse that is the same height. I’ll tell you that purchasing 2 of these units might be a good idea, because you can actually hook another one to the Pegasus, which will create a larger work space for you. So, if your budget allows, I’d purchase 2 of these together.
Use the Pegasus to Get Things Done
Regardless of who you are, whether you’re a woodworker or a DIY enthusiast, this workbench can be your best friend. Sand, cut, paint, glue, varnish …this workbench can make your tasks easier to do. Currently, the WORX Pegasus is one of the most versatile sawhorse and workbench you’re going to find.
