When you’re trying to tame your backyard, you’re going to want to have both a pole saw and a chainsaw. A pole saw will come in handy so that you can get to those hard to reach areas, while a chainsaw can be used in order to cut those limbs into smaller pieces once they’re on the ground. Instead of going out and purchasing a chainsaw and pole saw separately, I recommend purchasing a 2-in-1 power tool that contains both a pole saw and a chainsaw. By doing this, not only will you be saving money, but you will also save time and space. You’ll be saving time, because you will have both a chainsaw and pole saw with you, and space, because you will not have to store both power tools.
Certain companies understand the difficulties that gardeners face, and this is one of the reasons they have offered a 2-in-1 pole saw/chainsaw. There are a large amount of 2-in-1 pole saw/chainsaws currently on the market, so picking the best one might be difficult, especially if you’re a first time buyer. I am going to introduce you to a convertible 2-in-1 pole saw/chainsaw that I believe might just be suitable for you – the Earthwise CVPS43010 …
What is the Earthwise CVS43010?
This is an outstanding electric pole saw that is capable of working as both a pole saw and a chainsaw (that’s exactly what you need). Now, I understand that the word “electric” may scare some people off, because many are under the impression that electric power tools are basically tools. However, this is a misconception. This particular power tool has a 7 amp motor, which is pretty powerful. It’s powerful enough to be able to cut through some pretty stiff limbs. What’s cool about this pole saw is that it comes with a pole that can be extended up to 7.5 feet, making it even easier for you to trim those branches that are high in the air. This is a handy tool that is great for pruning, yard trimming, and cutting limbs that are in the air, without having to stand on a ladder.

Features
Extension – Makes it Easy to Reach in the Air
This pole saw is capable of being extended up to 8 feet, making it easy for you to cut branches in the air. The maximum reach is 7.5 feet, so this means you can cut branches that are 7.5 feet in the air. As for the extension pole, it is sturdy as can be.
Conversion – From Pole Saw to Chainsaw within Seconds
One of the features I really like about this pole saw is the fact that it is capable of converting from a pole saw to a chainsaw or chainsaw to a pole saw without a whole lot of effort. Simply with a push of the button, you can convert it. All you have to do is push the one button and the pole saw can be used as a chainsaw, and I must say, it’s a pretty good chainsaw.
10 Inch Bar and Chain
One of the reasons I chose the Earthwise CVPS43010 is due to the fact that it has a 10-inch cutting bar. With a cutting bar like this, you will be able to make some nice sized cuts. You know those harsh branches you have in your yard? When you have this type of saw in your hands, those branches will no longer be a problem. Along with the saw, you have the Oregon bar, which can help with precise cuts, even to the most aggravating branches in the yard. If you’re looking for the type of saw that is capable of working fast, while maintaining a safety standard, then you have found it right here.
Safety Accessories
Speaking in safety, when it comes to power tools, safety is something that should always come first. For a saw, there are various safety accessories that are a must. When it comes to safety features with this power tool, there’s no need to worry about that, because they have you covered. With the pole saw, you’ll find the latest safety accessories like the protective bar, chain cover, and even a handy shoulder strap. All of these accessories will help lower the risk of getting hurt while using the saw.
Light in Weight
As you know, the pole saw comes with a useful telescoping pole. It is capable of extending so that you will have a longer reach for cutting those limbs that would normally be out of your reach. I have used many pole saws in my lifetime, and couldn’t help but to notice that many of them were heavy, especially after using them for a long time – with a normal pole saw, I would have to continuously stop and rest my arms because it was just too heavy. However, with this pole saw, it appears that they did things a bit differently, because even after using the pole with it extended all the way out, it doesn’t put as much strain on my hands and arms. Even with the pole extended, it still feels light in weight, and this allows me to be able to use it for a prolonged time, without having to take breaks after a couple of minutes.
Pros
Telescopic Pole – Not only does it have a telescopic pole, the telescopic pole is strong. It is capable of reaching up to 8 feet.
Cord Retention – I don’t know about you, but if a power saw doesn’t come with a cord retention, I’m going to worry about slicing it every second. In this case, the cord retention hook is built onto the pole for user safety.
Self-Lubrication – In the past, I’ve used chainsaws that required manual lubrication. I had to continuously stop what I was doing just to make sure the bar and chain had enough lubrication, because without it, the saw isn’t going to function properly. In this case, the self-lubrication will save you from having to stop every minute just to lubricate the saw.
Bar and Chain – The Oregon bar and chain is 8 inches long, and I must say, it should definitely be listed as a pro.
2-in-1 – One of the best features with this pole saw is the fact that it is both a pole saw and a chainsaw. So, when you’re ready to saw some trees down, or saw up the limbs that you cut down in order to make them easier to carry to the burn pile, you can easily transform it into a chainsaw. By pushing the button, you’ll have a chainsaw within seconds, and vice versa. Gone are the days where yard workers had to carry both a pole saw and a chain saw around with them.
Cons
I have heard some explain that the chainsaw/pole saw didn’t live up to their expectations and cut the branches they thought it would. I’m not sure if you’re familiar with saws, but from my experience, when cutting performance was low on a chainsaw or pole saw, this means it may be due to the user, or a problem with the chain or blade. When you’re planning on cutting some limbs, the saw blades is what really matters. If those blades haven’t been sharpened, then it’s not going to live up to the performance you expected. If you run into this problem, try changing out the blade. If that still doesn’t fix it, then you’ll need to check the chain and bar. The problem, as I said, could also pop up when the user isn’t familiar with operating the saw. So, before anything else, make sure you learn how to use the saw and trust me, with this one, you’ll get the desired performance.
Another problem I have heard is that the chain stops rotating. Mind you, this isn’t the only saw that has this problem, this is a common problem with saws. With this particular saw, it’s hard for me to believe that the chain has stopped rotating, because the chain really is made of high quality. However, if you find yourself facing this type of issue (you can use this solution with all saws), follow these steps:
- Place the saw on flat ground.
- Disconnect the spark plugs.
- Loosen the nuts covering the clutch.
- While you’re holding the bar up, clockwise, take the screw tension and turn the chain. Turn the screw tension until there is no more slack.
- Tighten the cover nuts of the clutch.
Conclusion
When it comes to choosing the right saw, it is important that you read about different saws and do some comparisons. In this case, the Earthwise CVPS43010 might be a suitable option for you, especially if you’re looking for something that isn’t going to put so much strain on your body. With this saw at hand, you will be on your way to taming your backyard in no time at all, and you will be able to reach those limbs without having to stand on a ladder (standing on a ladder with a saw is dangerous). The engine is the heart of this saw and is more than capable of giving you the power you need to slice through those limbs. This is an excellent pole saw/chainsaw combination that contains a strong chain and bar, along with a powerful motor. To top it off, the saw comes with a shoulder strap and a blade cover, so when you’re using the saw, you’ll have the safety accessories you need. As for the price, the price is affordable and definitely a bargain for something of this high of quality. If you’re looking for a chainsaw/pole saw combination, then you’ll definitely want to buy this.
